There are many beautiful layering dies out there, including many gorgeous florals from Altenew. I wanted to use my layering die-set in a slightly different way from the normal and stepped my Antique Rose up a notched. Today I’m using the new Altenew Antique Rose C-A-F layering die and combining it with some glitter to add sparkle to your layering die-cuts. This technique can be used with any layering die set in your stash and I’m showing you my quick and easy method. So why not join in and craft along with my video tutorial!
You should have arrived here from the fantastic Jaycee Gaspar . You can always start at the beginning of the hop over at the Altenew Card Blog here.

Add sparkle to your layering die-cuts: how to add the glitter with little fuss!
To add the sparkle quickly and also with full coverage of the die-cut, you’ll need to add double-sided adhesive sheets to your cardstock. Make sure when you die-cut the Altenew Antique Rose C-A-F layering die, the adhesive is on the front of the die-cut. The only layer on this rose I have not added sparkle is layer 3.

After you have die-cut the layers with your adhesive sheets on, remove the adhesive backing and cover the adhesive with glitter. For layer 1, I covered this in WOW! Sparkles Graphite. Layer 2 was covered with WOW! Sparkles Brilliant Silver and lastly, layer 4 was covered in WOW! Sparkles Crystal.

Next, use liquid adhesive to layer up the layers – I prefer liquid adhesive with a rough surface such as glitter as you know it will stick!
Add sparkle to your layering die-cuts: assembling the card
For the leaves, die-cut the various layers and ink blend colour over the top using Altenew Limeade and Altenew Frayed Leaf mini ink cubes.

The rose, along with the leaves, was added to a background panel that had been embossed with the Altenew Diamond Stars 3D embossing folder. To finish the card off, a sentiment from the Altenew Fresh Cut Rose stamp set was heat embossed in white onto black card.

The sentiment was foam mounted onto the card, and then the panel was embellished with a few Glossy Porcelain pearls from Lucy’s Cards.

Gorgeous card. Love the sparkle.
This is absolutely beautiful!
Oh my goodness that is stunning. I might try that with glitter cardstock. Worried the glitter might fall off . . .
The Sparkle on this card adds a great dimension, great video!
Love the color combination of the flower and the sparkle.
Your color palette for this card is brilliant. Thanks for sharing your technique for creating glitter paper. The sparkling rose is lovely. Would these dies cut through regular glitter paper or is it necessary to cut card stock then add glitter?
No, they will cut through regular cardstock ok. I had a layer of double sided adhesive on each side of the card so was reasonable thick and it cut through ?
Lovely cards.
Beautiful card! I think it would be pretty as a sympathy card too. Love this new release!
Stunning!! L!
I am not a glitter girl but I absolutely love this rose and the card you made with it. Such a beautiful wedding card! My nephew is getting married next month. I may have to make a glitter rose for his card. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for the video. I am new to card making and this was an informative blog post. Love the glitter on the rose.
