Hello, so good to see you. Now Mondays are usually my day to post a project with Silhouette UK. However, my machine is currently in for repairs….and I hope it can be repaired! So instead, I am posting my first project for the Altenew Educator Certification Programme. The first class I decided to take was the ‘All about layering 1’ class which is a free class at the Altenew Academy. This was a great class to start with going over the basics of using Altenew layering stamps.
I love how these cards turned out. For these cards, I wanted to go for a fresh look and I feel these layered floral images paired well with white space to achieve my look.
All about layerING 1 Card Process overview
For these cards I used the life is Awesome stamp set along with the Birthday Builder stamp set, all from Altenew. To start off, I stamped the happy birthday sentiment in Versafine Onyx black ink in the middle of a card panel.
I then proceed to stamp the two blue flowers first using my stamping platform. You can stamp and layer up using acrylic blocks, but I wanted to make several of the same card so using a stamping platform speeded this up. For the blue flowers I used the Glacier Caves mini ink cube set.
Next I stamped the pink flowers using the Red Cosmos mini ink cube set, and I think the pink colours pair beautifully with the blue. These flowers were very easy to line up and layer, and the layering guide that comes with the packaging is very easy to follow. If you have misplaced yours, you easily download this from Altenew’s website.
To finish the stamping off, I stamp a range of leave clusters from the stamp set in Green Meadows mini ink cube stamp set. I tried to position the leaves where it seemed the most natural position around the flower, but also to help frame the sentiment.
Lastly I finished the cards off with a selection of Tonic Nuvo Drops. For the second card, I used the stamps and ink, however I positioned the floral images and leaves over to one corner for a different design.
