What I love about Catherine Pooler inks is that they work so well with one another. Catherine Pooler Designs has split her inks into two main collections: Party and Spa. The inks in the Party collection are bright colours that are saturated. The Spa inks are muted-toned inks with a grey undertone to them. You can mix and match any colour you want – that is part of art, but for cohesiveness, Catherine Pooler has taken the guessing out for you. Today, my card features a few products from some of the new releases, but you can change the design to anything you have in your stash, so let’s get crafting.

A cohesive colour scheme with catherine pooler inks: spa collection
Start off by inking up the top third of the Making Waves background stamp with Tranquil Ink and stamp onto white card stock. Next ink the middle third up with Cove Blue Ink ensuring you slightly overlap where you place Tranquil ink. Use a blending brush to soften the line of ink on the stamp before stamping it down onto the cardstock.

Repeat this process for the lower third of the background stamp, this time using Juniper mist ink. Once complete, you will have an ombre stamped background and as these colours are in the Spa inks collection they all work well together.

A cohesive colour scheme with catherine pooler inks: pairing it with embossing powder
For the focal element, stamp the butterfly from the Butterfly in Bloom stamp set onto vellum in embossing ink. Cover this with Icicle Teal Embossing glitter and a heat set. Die-cut this with the coordinating die and also cut one plain die-cut out of white cardstock.

Using a blending brush, apply Sea Glass ink and Bay Breeze ink to the white die-cut adding the darker colour in the middle fading this out. Adhere the vellum butterfly over the die-cut and add this to the card front. Add some foam pads beneath the wings to give dimension.

To finish the card off, stamp a sentiment from the Butterfly in Bloom stamp set in Bay Breeze ink and fussy cut this out. In addition, add some sequins scattered around the card – the sequins coming from Portland Sequin Mix and Mystic Sequin Mix.
