You can easily create quick and easy cards with pattern paper that look cohesive and professional. Today’s post features the soon to be released collection from Catherine Pooler Designs: Global Adventures Part Deux and I got to play with the Asian Adventure Bundle. This comes with a beautiful pattern paper pack which caught my eye straight away and inspired these cards. With this card making tutorial, perfect for beginners or seasoned crafters you’ll be making cards in minutes!

5 ways to use pattern paper in card making: full background panel
This card is the easiest out of the three as the pattern paper does 90% of the work. Trim down the Bambo paper from the Parasols & Pagodas Pattern Pack and adhere directly onto a white card base.

Next, heat emboss in Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder the two birds and a sentiment from the Origami Cheers stamp set. Use the coordinating dies to cut these out.
To complete the card after you’ve foam mounted the birds and sentiments, embellish with the Kyto Sequin Mix which coordinates with the paper pack.

5 ways to use pattern paper in card making: within a frame
This card is very similar in the process to the first card, but we have stepped it up by adding a die-cut frame rather than using the card base to create a frame. Die-cut a layer up a frame 3 times using the Scallops & dots die set.

Adhere the lantern paper from the Parasols & Pagodas Pattern Pack to the card base and adhere the layered frame over the top. For the lantern stamp a lantern from the Lantern Festival stamp set in Rouge ink. In addition, heat emboss in Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder floral elements onto it and heat emboss the hanging elements from the stamp set.
After using the coordinating dies to cut out the elements, foam mount the lantern onto the front and add a stamped sentiment from the Origami Cheers stamp set. Lastly, embellished with sequins from the Kyto Sequin Mix.

5 ways to use pattern paper in card making: use two patterns on one card
Why not use more than one piece of pattern paper on your card design? Here, two coordinating but contrasting pattern papers from the Parasols & Pagodas Pattern Pack were cut down to cover half of the card base. Foam mount these onto the card base for extra interest.

When using a bold design or colour, sometimes keeping the focal element simple to contrast against the design helps it pop. Add a white die-cut using the Paper Lantern Die.
A sentiment from the Origami Cheers stamp set was stamped in Juniper Mist and added to the front to look like it is part of the lantern. Again this was finished with sequins from the Kyto Sequin Mix.

5 ways to use pattern paper in card making: heat embossing
Why not stamp over pattern paper, or better yet heat emboss over it? Stamp the flower from the Origami stamp set onto the parasols pattern paper from the Parasols & Pagodas Pattern Pack and heat emboss in Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder . Make sure you rotate the stamp to get variation.

Use the Origami Cheers die set to cut the flowers out. To allow the flowers to pop, adhere these down onto a plain white panel and foam mount this onto a white card base.
Add a heat embossed sentiment from the Origami Cheers stamp set and embellish with Kyto Sequin Mix.

5 ways to use pattern paper in card making a focal stripe
This last card just uses a small strip of the pattern paper to help anchor down the focal stamped elements. Doing this adds a lovely design element without over powering the card design.

A strip of the lantern paper from the Parasols & Pagodas Pattern Pack was added to the left of the card with a selection of lanterns stamped in Bay Breeze, Polished and Lemongrass inks. These lanterns are from the Lantern Festival stamp set.
In addition, stamp a sentiment from the same stamp set in Juniper Mist ink. Finish the card off with Kyto Sequin Mix.
