Challenge Card – Distress ink/oxide blending

Hey and welcome back! Today’s post is a quick one, just showing a card I entered into two challenges for Less is More and Just Add ink. The colour scheme was Hot and Spicy and the sketch below was what the card layout was based on (see below). This card used distress ink/oxide blending to add an ombre spiced strip down the card.

I felt that the colour scheme really lend to the time of the year, when the leaves are changing to the array of reds and yellows. To see another fall inspired Thank you card, check out this post here.

Materials required for Thank you - distress ink/oxide blending Card :

  • Distress Oxide: Abandoned Coral and Fossilized Amber
  • Distress Ink: Festive berries
  • Die cut sentiment: Xcut Thank you
  • Sentiment stamp: Avery Elle ST-16-01 Sentimental
  • Leaf stamps – Craft Sensations
  • Card base
  • Double sided tape
  • Quickie Glue pen
  • Blending tool and blending foam
  • Scrap white card

Thank you - distress ink/oxide blending Card details:

First of all, I created the distress oxide/ink blended strip. I blended the fossilized amber and abandoned coral together, then used a small amount of Festive berries on the end. To get a smooth blend, it was best to blend the oxides first before adding the distress ink. The distress oxides are much easier to blend and have a lovely chalky finish. Because of this, adding the distress ink over the top at one end, I was able to achieve a seamless blend.

I utilized a small strip of the blend background to create the white embossed secondary sentiment and stamped the leaves out in matching colours. I quickly fussy cut theses out and mounted them on to the card surrounding the die cut sentiment. To add more interest to the die cut sentiment, I used my Wink of Stella pen over the top. This added a lovely coat of sparkle. It is hard to see, but in the light is beautiful with the sparkle glistening away!

Did you like this project? Why not pin it and save for later? It will be there for when you need it!
