All Embossed – You’re the best!

All Embossed – You’re the best!

Hello and welcome to today’s post! Today I am highlighting this ‘all embossed’ card I created with a monochromatic colour scheme. Initially I was inspired to try and make an Art Deco style card, hence why I choose the black and gold colour scheme. However, […]

Custom Stamped Backgrounds

Custom Stamped Backgrounds

It is so nice to have a few days off with the bank holiday this weekend, although I had some time off at the beginning of the week as family were visiting. Hence, why it has been a little quiet on the blog this week; I been very busy, but it wasn’t very craft related! Today I want to show you how easy it is to get more from your stamps by creating your own custom stamped backgrounds. Using multiple stamps of different sizes along with an array of inks, you can create unique and colourful backgrounds for any card getting even more from your stamp sets.

Distress Ink Emboss Resist Background

Distress Ink Emboss Resist Background

I recently got a few items through the post that I had order from Amazon ages ago, but took a while to arrive as they were coming from overseas. For the cheaper prices I was willing to wait! The main item I used for this card was a background 6″ x 6″ cling stamp, my first background stamp. It was really easy to use, and gave a really interesting background when I combined it with distress inks. Using embossing powder and heat setting this before distress inks are applied, allows the embossing to resist the inks and keep the look of the background stamp.

Shaker Card Tutorial: Mothers Day

Shaker Card Tutorial: Mothers Day

Shaker cards have been around for quite some time but I have never done a tutorial on them. It is such a great way to add interest to the card and you can personalise each card by changing the embellishments you use inside the window.

They are quite easy to make if you have the supplies, and the main thing you need is either double sided foam tape or some fun foam and double sided adhesive tape, and some acetate! What you put inside the shaker window is up to you!

Upcycling: Rose Gold gilded vase

Upcycling: Rose Gold gilded vase

Whilst I was out ‘window shopping’ in the Range I saw some rose gold gilding flakes and I was no longer window shopping! I had recently bought a plain oblong vase when I was in hobby craft and thought I would upcycle it with these flakes and some twine to make a stylish modern unique piece. I was in need of a smaller vase, as now and then my other vase is just to big for some flowers to stand in! So I upcycled this plain vase and it is now fit for the job.

Using simple shapes and scraps

Using simple shapes and scraps

In attempt to make some more unisex style cards I wanted to see if I can use up some of my scraps at the same time. I don’t know about you, but I am getting quite a draw full of scrap paper left over from other projects and I need to start depleting it! So, the best way I thought to do this is by using simple shapes cut out of the scraps to make a background or focal point to the card.

Double sided adhesive paper – Glittered Happy Birthday Card

Double sided adhesive paper – Glittered Happy Birthday Card

Whilst I was out in town I visited Abakhan, which if you are into sewing is a great shop for a wide range of fabrics. In addition, they also stock some other items for various different crafts and whilst I was in there I stumbled across some double sided adhesive tape sheets by Stix 2. I have seen double sided tape sheets being used in various different projects, though the brand always used or mentioned is usually Stick it! rather than what I had found. Although not the same brand, I wanted to get some to give it ago and see how I could use it.
