Hey there, I hope you are having a creative week! I have just had a lovely weekend away spending some time with my family. However, I managed to fit in some crafting time before I left to create two projects for this weeks Brutus Monroe blog hop. For this weeks blog hop, the inspiration team are showcasing the amazing embossing powders from Brutus Monroe. I know Brutus Monroe has gotten a great name for their embossing powders and I can certainly vouch for them!
The standard embossing powders come in a decent size, and although Penny is my favourite and I use it all the time, I still have loads left! If you didn’t catch the recent Inspiration box you will have missed the reveal of a new embossing powder – Champagne. It is currently only available in the box but here’s hoping it will be sold separately in the future.
Well onto today’s post, I decided to double the embossing in my projects by dry and heat embossing in one go! So if you are ready, lets read on!

Embossing powder Card 1 Details
Open up a Brutus Monroe embossing folder, and apply Brutus Monroe Clear Embossing ink to the side with the greatest surface area – so this will create the debossed areas. Place a piece of card over the carefully without moving it and run this through your die cutting machine.
Next, remove the card and cover with embossing powder. I used the vibrant Pineapple embossing powder found in the ‘Summer’ Embossing powder collection. If any powder has strayed onto the raised embossed area, brush this away with a small brush. When happy, heat set this.
To create the card, I die cut a rounded stitched oblong and foam mounted this onto an Alabaster card panel, 1/4″ smaller than the cardbase. Next, I stamped in stacked teacups from the Tea Time stamp set in Gargoyle Brutus Monroe Surface ink. I used a 6B drawing pencil to add some shading to cups along the left-hand side.
This was adhered to the card panel with 3D foam squares and Brutus Monroe Craft glue. I added a small sentiment in matching ink, matted with a layer of grey patterned paper. To finish the card, I added some Crystal Bottle Cap sequins with a few small iridescent sequins from my stash. The whole card panel was matted onto the cardbase.

Embossing powder Card 2 Details
For this second card, I choose to heat emboss the other side of the embossing folder. This will be the side with smallest raise surface area. You need to be careful when inking this up, you don’t want to press your pad down, otherwise, it will add ink to the whole surface. You need to gently wipe across the top of the surface.
Add another piece of cardstock to the folder and run through your die-cutting machine. When you cover this with embossing powder, the powder will stick in the debossed pattern creases. If any powder has landed on the raised embossed surface, wipe this away gently with a brush. Again I used the gorgeous Pineapply embossing powder. This will give a more subtle look to your cardstock but is just as striking as the first method.
For this card, I die cut a stitched tag from the cardstock and added a matching strip of patterned paper at the bottom. I also used the tag die to cut this, so the stitching lines would match.
For the sentiment, I layered a die cut in black onto a foam die cut and stamped the ‘my friend’ sentiment from the Tea Time stamp set and heat embossed with Raven Embossing powder. To make it more appealing, I added a piece of black ribbon to the top of the tag, and foam mounted the tag onto a white card panel. As the background was a little plain, I splattered it with silver paint to add interest. This was just enough, but wouldn’t detract from the lovely embossing detail of the tag. The panel was foam mounted onto a white cardbase. Lastly, the card was finished with a few silver Nuvo drops.
