Brutus Monroe: Therm-O-Web Part 1

Hello, good to see you today. This week Brutus Monroe has teamed up with Therm-O-Web to show well both their products fit together. The cards I feature today in the Therm-O-Web part 1 event use some gorgeous Clear Design toner Sheets and two new foil colours along with some Brutus Monroe stamps and Inks.

As soon as I saw the clear toner designer sheets I knew I need to make a clear front card with one. These can make striking cards and you have to use your ingenuity to think of a way to hide a greeting inside.  For the second card, I paired the new foil colour with a Brutus Monroe ink for a monochromatic card.

Whatsmore, Therm-O-Web is having a great giveaway this week. To find out more, check out the end of the post.

*For supplies featured in this post, please refer to the links at the end of the post.

Therm-O-Web Part 1 - CLear Designer Toner Sheet Card Details

For this first card, trim down a piece of Clear Designer Toner Sheet – Floral Sketch to the size of your card base (5″ 1/5 X 4″ 1/4). Choose a colour from Therm O Web decofoil foil range (for this card I used the beautiful new Wild Cherry) and run this through your Minc machine, I used heat setting 3. Alternatively, you can use your laminator but make sure you have left this to heat up for some time.

Next trim a piece of Lunchbag cardstock to 5″ 1/2  X 5″1/4 and score at 4″1/4. This will give you are card base to adhere your clear panel too. Using strong adhesive, attach the foiled clear designer toner sheet to the inside of the card fold. Cover this adhesive with a thin strip of matching Lunchbag cardstock (5″ 1/2 X 1″). For decoration, add a strip of ribbon down the front of the card where the card and clear sheet meet.

To create a space to write inside, you need to add a little decoration to the front. The iCraft Peel n’ stick Toner sheets are perfect for this. Foil in the same beautiful colour and die cut a stitched circle from this. Attach to the front in any location you choose – the adhesive is all over the back of the sheet and doesn’t show through the clear panel. To add a sentiment, heat emboss in Raven Embossing powder onto a stitched die cut circle in Lunchbag cardstock. Foam mount this onto the foiled circle with iCraft 3D foam squares. Lastly, embellish with some Bottle Cap Sequins – Crystal.

Therm-O-Web Part 1 - Foil and Ink paired Card Details

This card utilised another Clear Design Tone sheet – Distress lines. This was foiled in a new decofoil colour Jade and a stitched oblong die cut from this was added to a card base. I thought the Jade colour paired well with Brutus Monroe Surface Ink in Oz and this would give a lovely monochromatic card

A cake from the Topsy Cake stamp set was stamped in Oz onto Brutus Monroe smooth watercolour card. This ink was also used to colour the image in. To do this, smoosh your ink pad down onto an acrylic block. Using a little water and paintbrush, colour the image in. Remember, Brutus Monroe Ink is permanent when dry even with water, so make sure the initial stamped image is dry before adding colour. You can build up the colour of ink up as well because of this feature. If you want a darker area, dry it then add another layer of colour. Quickly fussy cut this out and adhere to the card.

For the sentiment, die cut a happy out of Raven black cardstock and black foam, layering these on top of one another with Brutus Monroe Craft glue. To finish off the sentiment, partial heat embossing the ‘birthday to you’ from the Topsy Cake set in Alabaster embossing powder onto Raven cardstock. Lastly, adhere your sentiments to the front and embellish with Brutus Monroe Acrylic Bubbles and clear Nuvo drops.
