Brutus Monroe: Stretch your 2 x 3 stamps – cupcake toppers

Hello there, good to see you. I hope you are having a great week so far, and of course managing to find some time to craft! The Brutus Monroe team are hopping again this week and we are stretching the use of out 2×3 stamps. These stamps are the ones which come in the Brutus Monroe monthly stamp kit which usually consists of one image and a sentiment. Therefore, the team are showing you even more ways to get use out of a small stamp like this. So if you struggle with this, make sure you hop along for lots of inspiration.  Today, I used the Hippo from March’s Monthly stamp kit to create some sweet cupcake toppers for a little kids party. These stamps are just the right size for cupcake toppers, and this little hippo has a great spot to put a number on fr the age.

*For supplies featured in this post, please refer to the links at the end of the post.

Cupcake topper Details

First of all, stamp the hippo in Raven black detail ink several times for the number of cupcake toppers you require. When this ink dries it is safe to use with Alcohol markers and is waterproof. For my hippos, I used Spectrum Noir markers to colour them in.

When you have finished colouring them in, fussy cut out the hippos. If you have an electronic die cutter, you can scan the image are cut these out – for example with the PixScan mat and Silhouette Cameo. This makes it much quicker.

Stamp the age on the front with clear embossing ink and cover with embossing powder, then heat set. I used Raven embossing ink for the navy toppers and Penny for the pink toppers.

The Hippo was foam mounted onto a Lunchbag stitched die cut circle. I used a strip of grey diagonal pattern paper to added a banner to the topper before the whole piece was matted onto either pink or navy stitched die cut circle. Lastly, attached a cocktail stick to the back of the topper with craft glue.

Did you like this project? Why not pin it and save for later? It will be there for when you need it!
